Percy Sutton Harlem 5K Run

This 5K race honors the late Percy Sutton, who as Manhattan borough president in the 1970s championed the New York City Marathon as a five-borough event and remained a supporter of NYRR and running throughout his life; he passed away in 2009. The run celebrates historic Harlem and is part of HARLEM WEEK, one of the northeast area's largest cultural celebrations.

Event hashtag: #PercySutton5k—use it in your public tweets, Instagrams, and Facebook posts!

Live unofficial results are available during the race at and in the NYRR app. Features include leaderboards, map tracking, and an individual runner search that can be shared on Facebook and Twitter. Tell your friends and family to follow your progress, and get unofficial results right after the race!

Percy Sutton Harlem Walk

A 1.5-mile walk accompanies this event; separate registration is required. Information and registration are here.

Course Info

This fast 5K course runs alongside Jackie Robinson Park and circles St. Nicholas Park, both historic and beautiful enclaves in the heart of Harlem. Although there is significant climbing in the first mile, most of the rest of the race is flat or downhill.

Mile 1: Starting at 136th Street and Edgecombe Avenue, head north on Edgecombe Avenue, and bear right where Edgecombe Avenue becomes Bradhurst Avenue (just past 141st Street). Turn left onto 145th Street, then right onto Edgecombe Avenue. Continue north, passing Jackie Robinson Park on your right.

Mile 2: Make a left at 155th Street and another left onto St. Nicholas Place. Turn right at 150th Street and left onto Convent Avenue and continue running south on Convent Avenue.

Mile 3: Circle St. Nicholas Park and enjoy a thrillingly flat and fast final half-mile to the finish on St. Nicholas Avenue at approximately 138th Street, near the Percy E. Sutton Education Complex.
