This June, NYRR turns 59 years old. Help us celebrate by donning your favorite old-school running gear and taking a walk—no, a run—down Memory Lane at the NYRR Retro 5-Miler. This is a throwback-themed race in the perfect spot—Central Park—where many iconic moments in running have occurred!
Be on the lookout for our vintage lead car, old-school running gear, and other suprises. In the spirit of historical races, the course won’t feature clocks at each mile; instead, staff will call out splits just like back in the day!
Arrive early on race day for some throwback stretches and calisthenics. We'll kick things off at 8:15 a.m. on the grass next to the corrals.
Whether this is your first race or your 500th, come out for an unforgettable day of running.
Event hashtag: #NYRRretro—use it in your tweets, Instagrams, and Facebook posts!
Live unofficial results are available during the race in the NYRR Mobile App. Features include leaderboards, map tracking, and an individual runner search that can be shared on Facebook and Twitter. Tell your friends and family to follow your progress, and get unofficial results right after the race!
The race takes place entirely within Central Park.
Mile 1: Start on West Drive near West 67th Street and head south, completing the lower loop of the park before the course turns back onto East Drive.
Mile 2: Continue North on East Drive, passing the 72nd Street Transverse and ascending Cat Hill.
Mile 3: Continue along East Drive as you pass the Reservoir on your left and pass Engineers' Gate (East 90th Street).
