New York Road Runners offers blocks of guaranteed, non-complimentary entries to qualified and selected nonprofits through the Official Charity Partner Program of the TCS New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 4, 2018. Details about the Official Charity Partner Program will be added to this page as they are confirmed. See below and email [email protected] with any questions.
Official Charity Partners for the TCS New York City Marathon will be classified as a Silver, Bronze, or Community Level Partner at NYRR’s discretion.
Silver Level Partners commit to a minimum of 40 guaranteed entries in the TCS New York City Marathon. They can offer guaranteed entry to runners plus race day perks including access to bus transportation from midtown Manhattan to the start and entry to a tent in Charity Village at the TCS New York City Marathon start village on Staten Island. These charities are listed on the TCS New York City Marathon website with a brief description of the charity, the charity’s logo and a link to their website. Each charity can set its own fundraising minimum as long as it is at least $3,000 per runner.
Bronze Level Partners commit to a minimum of 15 guaranteed entries in the TCS New York City Marathon. They can offer guaranteed entry to runners and they are listed on the TCS New York City Marathon website with the charity’s logo and a link to their website. Each charity can set its own fundraising minimum as long as it is at least $3,000 per runner.
Community Level Partners commit to 5 or 10 guaranteed entries in the TCS New York City Marathon. They can offer guaranteed entry to runners and they are listed on the TCS New York City Marathon with a link to their website. New charities that are selected as Official Charity Partners will only be offered Community Level partnership. Each charity can set its own fundraising minimum as long as it is at least $2,500 per runner.
Each guaranteed entry carries a cost to be paid upfront by the charity. The charity fees for each level are as follows:
Please note that this fee does not cover the runners' race registration fees, which will be due when the runners register for the race. Charities may choose to pay the race registration fees for their runners. The runner registration fees are as follows:
Selected charities will offer guaranteed entry to runners who agree to raise a specified minimum set by NYRR. It is the Official Charity Partner's responsibility to hold its runners to the required minimum and ensure that each runner meets his or her own individual fundraising pledge.
Accepted charities will be allocated a minimum of 5 entries based on partnership history and the data collected in the application. No charity will be allocated more entries than requested on the application. We recommend that charities be conservative in the number of entries requested as there are no refunds for entries that are not filled. New charities will only be offered 5 entries.
The application for the Official Charity Partner Program of the 2018 TCS New York City Marathon will open in September 2017. The link will be available on this page. You can request to be added to a list to receive a notification email by sending an email to [email protected]. All charities who apply will be notified of their status in mid-December.
NYRR strives to partner with organizations who primarily serve New York City communities and are aligned with the NYRR mission to help and inspire people through running, while also maintaining diversity in the Official Charity Partner Program so that all runners can run for a cause they are passionate about. When selecting Official Charity Partners, we look for organizations with the capacity to reach a large enough audience to fill their allotted entries and provide customer service and fundraising support to runners that sign up. We also consider partnership history for those charities who have participated in the past, as well as the charity's experience with other peer-to-peer fundraising events. All applications are evaluated in their entirety, and in consideration of the demand for entries and the capacity of the program. As NYRR receives far more applications than the Official Charity Partner Program can accommodate, not all charities that apply will be selected.
