Assistant Manager, Race Scoring

As the Assistant Manager of Race Scoring, you will validate the dreams and aspirations of thousands of runners by providing event finishers their race times and results at approximately 20 annual events.

Responsibilities: 

You will work with the Race Scoring team on:

  • Meeting with the larger team to identify what’s required in the results for an event
  • Set a logistical plan with others on the ED&P team for event timing
  • Set up software for the next event, including entrant data
  • Prepare and test timing equipment and other hardware
  • Manage the on-site team to set up the timing equipment
  • Score the race, running software apps and post results
  • Provide stats and info about race finishers
  • Help runners who might not have received a time by making corrections
  • For the TCS New York City Marathon, you will work with timers from around the country and help manage all timing equipment
Requirements: 

You’re good at:

  • Tinkering with technology, including basic networking
  • Running all kinds of software, including learning new apps that we created
  • Collaborating with the team, including managing on-site staff
  • Grace under pressure, because race time is going to happen
  • Stats and numbers and providing detailed analysis
  • Communicating your ideas and putting them to paper
  • Helping customers who might have fallen through the cracks

You might also have:

  • A love for the sport of running
  • A willingness to be up early and work outdoors in different locations on some weekends
  • Knowledge of video equipment and asset management
  • Be able to drive a not-so-big van (valid U.S. driver’s license)
  • Some experience in the sport (USATF Official Certification)
